The ritual of tea has always been a moment for founder Julia Misaki to pause and reflect amidst the frenzy of daily life. After moving from Japan to Los Angeles, she was disappointed by the experience with trendy matcha lattes, which lacked the quality, preparation, and cultural appreciation she had hoped for. With her familial roots as inspiration, she sought out to make authentic, organic matcha accessible to the west while showcasing the rich history of this ancient practice. After years of searching for the right partners, she finally found local, organic tea farmers who share her high standards. Hikari Tea was finally born, and Julia continues to hope to be a part of the movement in a refreshed appreciation for the ritual of Japanese tea.
